HE'S FINALLY HERE!

Cooper Joffre Watson has finally arrived! We are ecstatic to have him here ~ he is such a blessing.

Here's my story:

We arrived at 7 am to be induced and we got the nurse we'd requested. Her name is Rita and she was our nurse with Tucker and she just so happens to live on our street! She's awesome!! Anyways, we got into our room and IV started. Pitocin started at 7:30. Dr. Lawrence came in and broke my water at 8. I was still at 1 cm. 50% effaced and the baby was still not engaged in my pelvis. So, we sit and contracted for a little while and Rita came back and upped my pit and checked me - I was at a 3. 5 minutes later, she was back to place oxygen on me because his heartrate was dipping. I was breathing through my contractions just fine and doing great but, Rita thought that I would go fast and said that if I was sure I wanted and epi I could go ahead and get it. I agreed and it was placed at 11:05. Cooper's heartrate was still going down and I was placed on oxygen at 11:30 and the pit was turned off so that he could recover and my contractions stalled out. Dr. Lawrence came in and checked me at 12:10 and I was still about 3.5 and it was decided to turn the pit back on and try it again. Everytime my pit was upped, his heartrate would drop. So, for the rest of the day, I was flipped from side to side, sat up and then down, oxygen off and on, pit off and on. At 1:05 I was dialated to a 4, 3:55 @ 5, after that he seemed to do really well and his heartrate evened out. So, I was able to have my pit upped steadily without issues. 5:15 I was at 7, 6:45 @ 9cm, 7pm @ 10 and he was born after only a few pushes at 7:10 pm. During delivery, his heartrate was dropping again and the Dr. had to continually scratch his head to get it to come up. Thankfully, all was well though. His cord was around his neck but, David was allowed to cut it. Cooper was handed off to the nursery staff and he was given a little oxygen and suctioned out. After he was cleaned up a bit, he was given to me. His nose was a little bruised because he sat in a weird position for so long. But, other than that, he's perfect!! He is so small, especially compared to the other kids.

The Stats:

6lbs. 6oz. 18 1/4 in.

To induce or not....

That is the question. I've had my induction planned/scheduled for 2 wks. now and I'm starting to rethink it. I know that everything would be fine and the baby would arrive safely and I'm not scared of the pain or anything like that. I'm just not ready. Physically - Yes, I'm tired of being pregnant. But, mentally and emotionally - no, I'm not ready to have 2 babies. My house needs to be cleaned and i don't have the energy to do it. The crib hasn't come in yet (not that he'll be sleeping in there immediately afterwards). I just don't feel ready....I don't know how I'm going to take care of a grade schooler, an active toddler, and a newborn. I'm just terrified! I know I'll be tired from taking care of the baby all night and then need to take care of Tucker all day and then be able to help Emily with homework and activities in the afternoons. Oh yeah - and cook supper. David is an awesome husband/father but, I can't expect him to be able to drop everything and help me everyday.

Although whether or not I choose to induce isn't going to affect the outcome, I'm just not sure if i should start it any earlier than I have to!

Mom is doing great!

Thank you for all of the thoughts and prayers! Mom is doing so well, they are letting her go home today. She has been walking all over the hospital floor and eating well. We couldn't have asked for a better outcome. When I talked to Mom this morning she said that her back wasn't hurting (which was the start of this whole ordeal). I just hope she continues to rest and recover quickly -

She has to be able to come to Conway next week. In fact, it's 1 week from today!!

Dr. appt/ @ Mom's house

I went to the Dr. yesterday and I am dialated to 1 cm. Everything looks good and is progressing like normal. I asked Dr. Lawerence if it was ok for me to come to Mom's house in order to be here for her hysterectomy. She ok'd it with only the agreement that I would stay hydrated, not walk a lot, and to return to Conway if I had constant Braxton-Hicks contractions for more than an hour.

So, we came here to Mom's yesterday afternoon. She arrived at the Women's Center at 5:30am this morning and her surgery was scheduled for 7:30. Unfortunately, the Dr. had a few delays and she didn't actually go back to the OR until 11. The Dr. reported that she did great and that there were no surprises. Mom got back to her room a little before 2 pm. She is currently hooked up to a Morphine pump but, doing well. I call my sister a little while ago and she said that Mom is doing great. She has sat up and ate a few things. She seems to be recovering quickly and really wants to get up and walk. Hopefully, she won't do too much today and pay for it later.

We Love You Mom!! Get Well Soon!

My First One

This is my first blog...I just hope I can remember to update it!!

As for our family -

David: He stays busy working ... for Wal-Mart and establishing a real estate business. He's been working on this real estate thing for about a year and it's going really well. I just hope he's able to get a break soon - he works so hard.

Emily: She'll be in 1st grade starting Aug. 18 at Vilonia Primary School. She's starting her 2nd year of gymnastics and is doing great!! I am so impressed by how well she does. Plus - she loves it and that makes me happy too!

Tucker: He is cutting his 2 top teeth and they are making him miserable. Poor baby :*( Other than that - he's doing great! He's becoming such a big boy. He's walking all over the place and climbing on anything that will be still long enough. He's all boy -- rough and tumble all the time. He loves to wrestle and chase Emily down (to pull her hair of course!).

Me: Well, I'm due Aug. 22 with Cooper Joffre Watson! But, thanks to Dr. Lawerence, I'll be induced on Aug. 14. I'm just trying to make it each day without burning up or burning out! I've been having TONS of braxton hicks contractions today. Which is really weird for me - I've never had them with any of my other pregnancies. Maybe that means Coop will come earlier than my induction date!
